ARANCINI AL RAGÙFOOD FOR THOUGHT EXHIBITION

My professor Archana Shekara challenged our class to create an exhibition centered around our experience with culture and the grain of rice. We started with mind-mapping, reading and researching, and interviewing family for culturally relevant dishes. Our goal was to generated dialogue and celebrate culture using design as a vehicle. I focused on the Sicilian roots of arancini al ragù, a fried rice ball. My design is fairly literal and is entirely hand-illustrated. The central phrase "tutto fa brodo" (everything makes broth) emphasizes the resourcefulness of the dish: arancini is believed to have originated as a way to preserve leftover risotto and ragù. This poster was sponsored by my department to be entered into AIGA's Flux 2024 Student Design Competition. It was also sold at exhibition for $250.00, and will be featured in Professor Shekara's upcoming book. Buon Appetito~!
